Advisory Committee David Aprasidze David Aprasidze is a professor of political science at Ilia State University, Tbilisi. From 2008-2009, he was chairman of the Caucasus Institute for Peace, Democracy and Development (CIPDD). Previously, from 2006 until joining the CIPDD, he worked at the Georgian Public Broadcasting as a political talk-show anchor, and headed the Konrad-Adenauer-Foundation regional bureau to Georgia and the South Caucasus from 2004 to 2006. He studied politics at Tbilisi State University and received his Ph.D. in political science from Hamburg University, Germany. In 2009 he was awarded a Fulbright scholarship to research at Duke University. His fields of research include post-Soviet transformation, foreign policy decision making, and Georgia’s political institutions. Marine Chitashvili Marine Chitashvili is a professor of psychology at Tbilisi State University and is the director for the Center for Social Sciences, an NGO. Ms. Chitashvili earned her Ph.D. from the Institute of Psychology, Georgian Academy of Science in 1985 and Doctorate (Habilitation) in 1999 from the same institute. Her research interests range from psychology--clinical and counseling --, to social capital, higher education, religion and gender. She has published two books and over 70 papers. Since 2000, she has been working as an executive in the NGO sector, supporting teaching and research in social sciences. She was a scholar of the Swedish Institute at the Lund University 1995, DAAD research scholar at Ludwig Maximilian University Munich 2006, Fulbright at Stanford University 2007, and will be a visiting fellow at Center for Research in Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities Cambridge University 2011. Mzia Mikeladze Mzia Mikeladze is the deputy director of the International School of Economics (ISET) at Tbilisi State University and dean of the Caucasus School of Governance at Caucasus University. In addition, she is president of the NISPAcee (Network of Institutes and Schools of Public Administration in Central and Eastern Europe). Trained as an IT engineer, she earned her Ph.D. from Moscow Institute of Control Problems. Later she graduated from the Georgian Institute of Public Affairs (GIPA) with a Master’s degree in public administration. She served as dean of GIPA for seven years and was involved in the introduction of the Zurab Zhvania School of Public Administration in Kutaisi. From 2004-2006, Ms. Mikeladze worked as a Civic Education, Youth and Gender Programs Director at the USAID funded Project Communities Empowered for Local Decision-Making. In recent years, Ms. Mikeladze was involved in the organization and facilitation of policy discussions and roundtables. Tamar Karosanidze Tamar Karosanidze is the Deputy Chief of Party of the largest USAID-funded civic engagement program administered by the East West Management Institute (EWMI). The program is titled Georgia Policy, Advocacy and Civil Society Support Program (G-PAC). Before joining the EWMI, Tamar was the Executive Director of the Georgian, anti-corruption non-governmental organization Transparency International (TI) Georgia. She led the organization during 2004-2010. Prior to that she was the Civic Program Coordinator at the National Democratic Institute (NDI) Georgia office. She was responsible for planning and managing the NDI's civic program and assisting its local partner organization International Society for Fair Elections and Democracy (ISFED), the largest election monitoring organization in Georgia. Tamar has also worked as a journalist at two national newspapers covering local and international political developments. Levan Tsutskiridze Levan Tsutskiridze is a specialist in international relations with a focus on strategic and security studies. Mr. Tsutskiridze is the founder of the Association for International Relations, a professional association of educators and institutions specializing in international relations. He completed his B.A. in International Relations at Tbilisi State University and his M.A. at the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) at Johns Hopkins University. Mr. Tsutskiridze worked in the research, education, public service reform and democratic development sectors at the OSCE, Open Society Foundation and the Georgian Institute of Public Affairs.. Currently, Mr. Tsutskiridze serves as the Representative of the Netherlands Institute for Multiparty Democracy (NIMD) in Georgia. NIMD works to support Georgia’s transition to mature democracy by supporting key legislative reforms, political party development and democracy education. |
